Heat Loss Hotspots Published Online
Householders in South Staffordshire can now find out how much heat their homes are losing thanks to a brand new approach by South Staffordshire Council to tackle climate change and fuel poverty. The council has now put the results of a thermal imaging survey which shows how much heat is lost from each building in the district on its website.
After taking a thermal image of every building in the district on a cold winter evening, residents can now see exactly how much heat their homes are losing. Householders can now view their property on the online map and see how energy efficient their homes are.

Councillor Mrs Joan Williams, (Deputy Leader) Environmental Services at South Staffordshire Council said: “It’s really interesting to see from the map how many homes are still losing so much heat. By getting our homes insulated it could help save a fortune on heating bills in the long run as well as helping to cut the amount of energy we have to use to keep our homes warm."
The council is also reminding local residents that they can still get a discount on home insulation measures including cavity wall and loft insulation thanks to a new scheme led by South Staffordshire Council, Staffordshire Fire Service and energy provider Eon.
Every home in South Staffordshire can get loft insulation for £180 and cavity wall insulation for just £150 – regardless of the size of the property. Anyone over 70 can get both of these done completely free.
